Packing for Paris: The Makeup Edit

When it comes to packing, make up is what I find most difficult to downsize. I don’t know what it is, but I find myself unable to leave behind that lipstick, or 3 different shades of pink blush. However, I’m going to Paris tomorrow morning and I think I did rather well at reducing the size of my make up bag..

The Face..

I am a big lover of primer and foundation; I am always on the lookout for the perfect base that will make my skin look flawless, but not cakey. And this combination here works pretty well I’d say! I’m taking the Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation Primer which works a treat for making my foundation last all day. Then I have the CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation which is a light, water based foundation that gives a nice light to medium coverage. It is ideal for the daytime as it doesn’t feel like you have any foundation on – perfect for trawling around Paris all day. Concealer-wise I’m loving the Clinique Even Better Concealer, it’s great for under the eyes and to cover blemishes. As for the cheeks, NARS Laguna Bronzer and NARS Deep Throat blush are great for a glowy, subtle look.

The Eyes..

Now for the eyes. I’m taking my trusty Urban Decay NAKED Palette as it has such a wide variety of colous, perfect for day to night. Urban Decay Primer Potion is a must for me, I will not put on eye shadow without it! I decided to take the CHANEL Illusion D’ombre in Illusoire, as it is just so beautiful and I’m going to Paris, so you can never take enough Chanel! For the brows I’m keeping it simple with MAC Eyebrow Pencil in Stud, which is the perfect shade for my brown-black brows. Then two Clinique eye liner products: Cream Liner in Black and the Cream Eye Shaper in Chocolate Luster. I have small, dark eyes so I don’t use too much liner but a subtle combination of these two gives my eyes a nice amount of definition. I threw in the DUO Lash Adhesive for good measure, just incase I decide to put on some falsies!

The Lips..

For the lips I’m taking 3 of my favourite shades. On the left, there is CHANEL Rouge Allure Velvet in L’Exuberant. Literally, my favourite lipstick. It is matte, but not drying at all and it lasts a good few hours on my lips. And the colour is simply divine. On the darker side of things (excuse the pun) there is MAC Lipstick in Dark Side. Not for the faint hearted, but a beautiful berry-toned burgandy which is really on trend this fall/winter. Lastly, there is my favourite peachy/pink lipstick, Lancome Rouge In Love in the shade 322. It is a beautiful formulation: moisturising, long lasting and quite opaque. I’ve swatched these 3 to let you see how lush they are out of the tube!

And so that is it! My little make up edit for a city break in Paris. Watch out for more Paris related blog posts coming soon.. Including my outfits for everyday I’m there. I’m going to Lady Gaga at the Stade de France on Saturday Night so leather and studs will feature quite a lot in one ensemble….
