My Favourite Gin + Tonic Serve

As much as I love February for my birthday and Valentines day, it can be a rather gloomy month. It’s still cold, it’s still dark and we are all impatiently waiting for Spring. Therefore, sometimes a little pick-me-up is needed! I thought I’d share my favourite way to serve gin and tonic today, because it’s simple to make and rather delicious if I do say so myself.

I am a bit of a big gin fan and love trying out different brands to see what they’re like. Gin is quite a unique spirit in that every single one can taste different because of the botanicals used in the distillation process. I feel like some people are put off of gin because of trying brands like Gordons and Bombay Sapphire, but trust me there is a gin brand for everyone because they can all taste so unique!

I was given a bottle of Gin Mare for my birthday and I have been absolutely loving it. It’s from Spain and is meant to be a ‘Mediterranean’ gin with a taste palette that is very herbal. I find it to be a very smooth and delicate taste, which makes it perfect for those who aren’t a huge fan of the traditional juniper taste of gin!

I’m using an elderflower tonic and rosemary/grapefruit garnish for this serve. I personally love adding grapefruit to gin – it can completely change the taste! The overall result is a rather refreshing and delicious drink. I could drink so many of these – so be careful, you might get addicted!

Ingredients

To make 2 G+T’s

50ml (2 measures) of gin

Handful of ice

Elderflower tonic water to taste (I love Fevertree)

2 slices of grapefruit

2 sprigs of rosemary

Method

There is no specific method to this – just pour your gin into some nice glasses, add a good amount of ice, top up with the desired amount of tonic water and finish off with the garnishes!

In my opinion, the best cocktails are the ones you don’t need to put too much effort into. Let’s face it, after you’ve had 1 or 2 you don’t want to be doing any complicated bar tricks!

It is so simple, it almost doesn’t deserve a recipe, but I think it’s nice to have new ideas of how to serve drinks. Honestly, the grapefruit changes everything! It’s something I never thought of adding into gin before recently and now I have it all the time.

I really hoped you enjoyed this little post and I hope you all have a lovely weekend! We’re almost out of Winter now, so the al fresco gins are not too far away!
