CHANEL Rouge Noir Collection

I know I’m a little bit late on this one – but the CHANEL Rouge Noir collection was not available in Canada until the 19th of November and so I’ve only just got my hands on it! But oh my, was it worth the wait.
I pre-ordered the mascara and Illusion d’Ombre eyeshadow from the collection (both in the shade Rouge Noir obvs) and I am so so impressed by both products. I was a little worried about the mascara as I have never used a non-black mascara before but I think it is my favourite out of the two!
Now I apologise for the pictures of me trying to demonstrate the make up but I just cannot get the hang of taking make-up selfies. The terrible lighting and background in my apartment does not help things either. But I did want to show the products on my face!
I used the eyeshadow quite lightly but I can confirm it is a beautiful purple-red colour that has just the perfect amount of shimmer. I am not even exaggerating here, it is beautiful. I’ve used the Illusion d’Ombre eyeshadows before and I personally love the formula of them as I am a big cream eyeshadow lover. What I love about these is that they are kind of like a cream-to-powder formula, so once it is on the eyes it doesn’t crease as much as some other cream shadows.
And now for the mascara. Well, I have to say this took me by surprise. I’m not the biggest fan of high-end mascaras – I always wear the L’oreal Telescopic Original mascara and I don’t really deviate from it as other mascaras just don’t work on my lashes. But this mascara by CHANEL has to be the best high-end mascara that I have ever used (how many times can I say mascara in one paragraph?!). It holds a curl in my poker-straight lashes, adds volume, isn’t clumpy. I am very excited about this. Oh and the rouge noir colour – I love it. I have very dark eyes and I feel like the deep brown-red colour of the mascara brings out my eyes more so than black. It is hard to see in the pictures above, but trust me in real-life, it is stunning. If you are normally put off by coloured mascaras I urge you to try this – it is a game changer!
Have any of you tried anything from the new collection? I’d love to hear what you think!
