Skincare for dry, dehydrated skin
In recent years, my skin has been suffering really badly during the Winter months. I used to have very oily skin, but now that I’m a bit older my skin is getting quite dry. I absolutely hate having dry skin, so I’ve been using various moisturising products to try to combat it. I have found a few amazing products in this time, which have become my Winter skincare staples!
Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Skin Protectant
I bought this in the airport back in December and it has been a lifesaver. It is a bit difficult to describe what it actually is, because it’s not a moisturiser or serum or anything like that. Basically, it’s an intensely moisturising gel that is very potent and you can use it almost anywhere you have dry or irritated skin.
I’ve been using it on dry patches on my skin, mostly between my eyebrows and also on my nose sometimes. I wouldn’t recommend using it on your face unless your skin is very dry – I only use it on my face when I literally have peeling skin (sorry that’s gross, but y’know we’re all friends here). You can also use it on your body wherever you have dry skin or irritation. It’s a real wonder product!
Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Lip Balm
I bought this lip balm at the same time as the skin protectant and I have just fell in love. I used to use the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm religiously, but it’s not great for day-time use as it is so thick. This one from Elizabeth Arden is just perfect. I love that it’s in a lipstick bullet as it makes it so easy to apply and the product itself just cures my poor little cracked lips.
Sheet Masks
I am a big lover of sheet masks, but they are a little bit difficult to find here in the UK. The ones I’ve used in this photo are from Sephora and one I picked up in Thailand last summer. I know some brands are starting to sell them here in the UK now but I find them quite expensive, so whenever I’m near a Sephora or Asian pharmacy I stock up!
If my skin is feeling really dry and just bleh (that’s totally a real word..) then I’ll just stick one of these on for about 20 minutes. Afterwards my skin always feels and even looks better. If you’re looking for some UK stocked ones, I like the Garnier Moisture Bomb masks and I’d like to try the Yes To sheet masks!
Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum
This is an old favourite of mine – I’ve been through 3 or 4 bottles! This is basically a super hydrating but lightweight serum and I use it every single day before putting my day time moisturiser on. It’s one of those products that my skin just literally soaks up! Even if you don’t have super dry skin, I highly recommend using this to hydrate your skin as it is very lightweight!
L’Occitane Almond Delicious Hand Cream
The Almond range from L’Occitane is one of my favourite scents ever! I adore all of the products but the hand cream is one that I use almost every day. It’s so moisturising but it sinks in quite quickly, so there are no sticky hands after using this! It also is just the most incredible scent. Have I mentioned that already?
So those are a few of my winter skincare favourites for dry skin! If you have any winter skincare products you can’t live without please let me know, I’m always on the look out for things to soothe my dry skin. I still haven’t found my perfect evening moisturiser yet, so any recommendations would be appreciated!
