Kitchen & Dining Room Renovation 💫 We’ve made Kitchen & Dining Room Renovation 💫 We’ve made so much progress in this part of the reno! Here’s where we started, the plan and progress we’ve made so far 💪 BEFORE 🛠️ We had a lovely big traditional dining room, but the kitchen was small, had a poor layout and was made even smaller by a tiny W/C that was added to the corner of the room. We wanted to bring more light into the hallway, improve the flow of the rooms and make this into a more social space. THE PLAN 🏚️ We knew as soon as we viewed this place that we’d want to open up these two rooms to create a more open kitchen and dining space! We swapped the rooms to allow for a larger kitchen, removed the W/C and added double sliding doors to the new dining space to let in more light to the hallway. A late addition to the plan was to adjust an existing cupboard in the larger room to become a walk-in pantry, with a sliding door to optimise the space. PROGRESS ✨ As you can see, the layout of has completely changed! The flow is so much better - I can’t wait to host dinner parties in this space! We’re at the stage now where it’s plastered, first coat of paint is on, the new floor is down (but still to be sanded and varnished - the colour will be darker than this when it’s finished) and the new radiators/boiler have been installed. What’s next? 👀 The new kitchen is arriving next week, the double sliding doors will be going in and then it’ll be the finishing touches like skirting boards, painting and lighting going in. . . . And so it begins.. 🔨🏚️ Our home renovation And so it begins.. 🔨🏚️ Our home renovation kicked off a few months ago and I have lots of exciting progress to share! It’s our 2nd time renovating, but the first time in a conservation property, which has come with its challenges! 🏡 We live in a Victorian converted townhouse in the west end of Glasgow, of which we own the bottom 2 floors (making it a duplex/maisonette). It was converted in the 50s, and has had lots of ‘interesting’ alterations made to it since, so we wanted to improve the layout, fix some problems (like the VERY uneven floor!) and optimise it for modern living. 🔨 Our plans include opening up the existing kitchen and dining room, levelling and replacing the wooden floors throughout, installing internal glazed doors to let in more light, creating an ensuite in the master bedroom and adding French doors to our garden. Plus an overall remodel - rewire, plastering, new double glazed windows, new plumbing.. the list goes on! It’s a big job to say the least 😅 My husband Max has been doing a fabulous job on the project management, working with our builder @harleydesignbuild who has been smashing it 💪 Meanwhile my focus is very much on interior design and all the fun stuff 🎨 ..plus growing a baby, due imminently, if you couldn’t tell from the last clip!
